If Sidhu Does TV, Ministry Must Be Changed: Punjab CM Amarinder

Amarinder Singh has said he will no longer contest elections, so who will Congress choose as its leader for 2022?

If Punjab minister Navjot Singh Sidhu wants to continue his career in television, he may have to switch his ministry, said state Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh.

On Monday, Singh said he would seek legal opinion on the matter after Sidhu made it clear that he intends to continue with his work on TV.

After seeking advice from Attorney General Atul Nanda, Singh said:

If it’s possible, we have no objection... why will we? In this case, we will have to do only one thing... since he is also Minister of Culture, we have may have to change his portfolio there.

Sidhu was sworn-in along with eight other cabinet ministers last week. Amid expectations that he would be made Deputy Chief Minister, Sidhu was handed the Local Bodies Ministry, as well as Culture.

Several speculated that his decision to carry on his TV career was a display of his disappointment at being jilted.

Sidhu told reporters Should I run a bus service like Sukbir Singh Badal? Or indulge in corruption? If I work four days a month, 7 pm to 6 am, why are people getting a stomach ache?

However, when asked about the Captain’s objections, Sidhu simply said: “The boss is always right.”
