Sidharth Malhotra’s ‘Sorry I am Done’ Tweet to Promote Aiyaari Becomes a Meme; Twitterati Come Up With Hilarious Reactions

Don't miss the hilarious memes

On December 14, actor Sidharth Malhotra’s cryptic tweet led to a flurry of reactions on social media. The tweet read, “Sorry, I am done”, and was followed by the 32-year-old actor changing his display picture to black and his Twitter bio to ‘off’. Immediately, people began wondering what was wrong with the actor, and many even said they don’t expect their ‘idol to give up so easily’. But in a short while, people realised that it was purely a marketing gimmick for his upcoming film Aiyaari that is set to release on January 26 next year. While this annoyed many users, some took the opportunity to crack hilarious jokes using this line. In no time, it became a hit meme.

When Sidharth Malhotra posted the cryptic tweet, his fans were taken aback. Many expressed their concern and tried to cheer the actor by reminding him that his last film, Ittefaq did well at the box office. Users also commented that irrespective of hits or flops, they will always stand by their favourite actor. In the middle of this, his Aiyaari co-star Rakul Preet responded by asking if things were okay. The hashtag, #SidsOffTheGrid, that she used along with this tweet, however, gave away the fact that it was a marketing strategy for their film.

Soon, an SMS reportedly from the film’s marketing team was shared by Twitter users and #SidsOffTheGrid began trending. It became clear that it was a marketing gimmick. To the relief of his fans, Sidharth posted another tweet saying, “Haha who said I’m off the grid? my #Aiyaari may have troubled some but I’m grateful for your support… big love.” Following this, Twitterati began imagining funny scenarios that could end with “Sorry I am done” and the results are some hilarious reactions.
