Filmmaker Shirish Kunder found himself in the midst of a controversy yet again on Friday night when news arrived of an FIR being registered against him in Harzratganj, Uttar Pradesh. The report was filed against the filmmaker for his tweets about UP’s new CM, Yogi Adityanath. Shirish, who had deleted the ‘objectionable’ tweets earlier, has tweeted out an unconditional apology.
I unconditionally apologise. I never meant to hurt anyones feelings or sentiment.— Shirish Kunder (@ShirishKunder) March 24, 2017
There was a mixed reaction to the entire controversy on Twitter:
most painful thing is people like @ShirishKunder who have legal backup, who know nonsense FIRs can't survive single hearing are apologizing!— Sunny Samuel Mittra (@sunnymittra) March 25, 2017
Was wrong of Shirish Kunder to call someone who has cases filed under IPC 147, 148, 149, 153A, 295, 297, 307, 336, 427, 435, 504, 506 a goon— Joy (@Joydas) March 24, 2017
