Shimla: 45 dead as bus falls in Tons river

A 52-seater bus that was on its way to Tunni village in Shimla skidded and fell into Toni river killing 45 people.

Around 45 people were killed when a bus fell into a river on its way to Tunni village in Shimla.

The 52-seater private bus, number UK16 0045, departed from Vikas Nagar in Uttarakhand around 5.30 am and skidded off the road and fell into Toni river around 10.15 am.

While the rescue operations are on, Uttarakhand state government has announced a compensation of Rs 1 lakh for kin of those dead, Rs 50,000 for severely injured and Rs 25,000 for people injured.
