Congress MP Shashi Tharoor met the protesting students in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) on January 12 night. "First time a religious test has been introduced into the definition of Indian citizenship. Never before in our country has it mattered what your religion was to qualify to be an Indian citizen," said Shashi Tharoor. "The mayhem of that evening (Jan 05) seared on our consensus and soon after I left Kerala the first thing I wanted to do was to come and see you all. Morally and metaphorically we stand with you," Shashi Tharoor further added. The congress minister said that he condemn the January 05 violence incident in the campus.
