Saying there was “no dearth of talent” in her ministry, External Affairs Minister on Tuesday dismissed media reports that Congress MP Shashi Tharoor may help the government in drafting a resolution to express support for Kulbhushan Jadhav.
On Tuesday night, Swaraj tweeted:
News reports had earlier said that, the resolution, to be tabled in Parliament, could be based on a statement that Tharoor made on the issue in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday.
Jadhav, an alleged Indian spy, was awarded the death sentence by a Pakistani military court on Monday. Tharoor, in his statement in the Lok Sabha, slammed the death penalty awarded to Jadhav and said that Pakistan violated international norms and the Geneva Convention in handing the sentence.
The resolution is expected to be vetted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as well as members of opposition parties.
