Shannen Doherty swapped Beverly Hills for Parkland, Fla., this week. The Beverly Hills, 90210 star visited the students and faculty of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on Thursday, calling her time there heartbreaking yet uplifting.

The 46-year-old actress shared photos on social media of her interactions with some of the kids.

Her Instagram story also featured students and teachers coming together and singing songs, like “Hallelujah” and “Imagine.” Spoiler alert: They’re amazing.

Being in their presence was an overwhelming experience for Doherty. The Heathers star is currently in remission after battling breast cancer, a journey she has shared publicly. In a heartfelt post, she exclaimed that while cancer is humbling, being around everyone at Stoneman Douglas was another level of humbling.

The students were excited to have the actress visit. One person commented on the above picture, “Thank you so much for coming yesterday. It was amazing to see you and meet you!” Another added, “Thank you so much for coming in to speak to us! Your words were so inspiring and i’m so glad you helped bring happiness to MSD! So nice to meet you :)”

Doherty was one of the many celebrities who called for action following the Feb. 14 mass shooting.

It has been a little over three weeks since 17 people were fatally shot at the school. On Wednesday, a grand jury indicted Nikolas Cruz, charging him with 17 counts of premeditated murder in the first degree and 17 counts of attempted murder in the first degree.

Doherty was the second famous face to visit Stoneman Douglas this week. NBA star Dwyane Wade dropped by on Wednesday to thank students for their inspiring response in the wake of the tragedy.
