Severe landslides and avalanches causes closure of Jammu-Srinagar national highway

Kashmir was cut off from the rest of the country for the fourth consecutive day today as the arterial Jammu-Srinagar national highway remained closed due to heavy landslides and avalanches reported in the state of Jammu and Kashmir recently. Over 6000 vehicles, including light motor vehicles as well as heavy motor vehicles, have been stranded on the roads of the valley. The commuters are stuck at different points of the highway due to the multiple landslides and severe snow accumulation facing difficulties in the cold weather, without having the basic necessities of food and shelter.
