Dehradun, June 8: The Indian Military Academy (IMA) in Dehradun on Saturday witnessed the passing out parade of 459 Gentlemen Cadets. Among the young officers who were newly commissioned into the Army, includes Lt Narendra Singh From Jodhpur. While Singh joined the Army today, he has previously worked with both Indian Navy and Indian Air Force (IAF). He joined the Navy in 2011 and has also served the IAF. Following which in 2015, he joined IMA through Army Cadet Corps (ACC). Singh was commissioned into the Army Air Defence (AAD) after the passing out parade organised on Officers Training Academy's parade ground in Dehradun on Saturday. Lieutenant General Cherish Mathson, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, South Western Command, took the salute as the reviewing officer of the parade. Both of Singh's brothers are in the Indian Army and his father Ben Singh is a retired Subedar. After the parade, the newly-commissioned cadets celebrated the important milestone in their lives. After today's passing out parade, IMA will now hold the record of giving 61,685 young military officers to the country and outside.
Of which, 382 officers commissioned into the Indian Army, 77 military officers belonged to the nine friendly countries of India including Afghanistan, Bhutan, Maldives, Fiji, Mauritius, Papua New Guinea, Tonga, Lesotho and Tajikistan. While 72 of them are from Uttar Pradesh, followed by Bihar, Haryana and Punjab. This year the 'Sword of Honour' has been awarded to Akshat Raj. Another passing out parade was held in Bihar where about 84 cadets will be joining the Indian Army.
