Sensex down by 1500 points, Nifty sees a 3% cut as well as panic over new strain of COVID spreads

Sensex is down by 1500 points. Sensex is an index of 30 well-established companies listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange. The Sensex is down by 1,476 points or 3.5% down. Sensex has come down to a level of 45,483. Over 3% cut is being seen over Nifty as well. The reason as told by the investors is the nervousness that has come around the world, ever since the news of the new strain of COVID from the UK came in.

As a result of this news, other countries in the world are slowly and gradually suspending flight operations to and from the UK. The panic could lead to a worry about another round of lockdown. A similar fall in the market was witnessed when India saw its first lockdown. Times Now's Heena Gambhir with more details.
