BJP leader Yashwant Sinha quits party, lashes out at PM Modi and Centre

Senior BJP leader Yashwant Sinha has announced that he is quitting the party.

Senior BJP leader Yashwant Sinha today announced that he is quitting the party, voicing his discontentment in the way the BJP-led central government has been working.

"It was a planned conspiracy of Centre to not allow the Budget session of Parliament to function smoothly this year," said Yashwant Sinha.

Yashwant Sinha, who quit electoral politics in 2014, announced that he will be 'ending all his ties with the BJP'

"My heart still beats for this country, and I will not sit tight while there is crisis." said Sinha. "Democracy is under threat today."

Yashwant Sinha has also blamed the government for the Parliament logjam.

"Why did Prime Minister Narendra Modi not intervene and speak to opposition leaders to ensure that the house functions properly?" he demanded.

"Centre was happy that the house was not functioning as no confidence motions was being moved by opposition every day," Yashwant Sinha said. "Speaker Sumitra Mahajan also said that because of the chaos in Parliament, she could not count 50 members who moved no confidence motion. She made a mockery of democracy."

Yashwant Sinha said the judiciary was denigrated after some senior judges raised questions over the functioning of the Supreme Court.

"The Election Commision is also not independent today. Why did the Gujarat elections not take place when the Himachal elections did? That is because had elections in Gujarat taken place in November the BJP would have lost," Sinha slammed.

Yashwant Sinha also accused the media for being 'coerced', saying that news reports against the government "are killed".

Sinha has then lashed out at actor Amitabh Bachchan for his latest controversial statement about the Kathua rape case.

"Amitabh Bachchan says he feels upsets and hates speaking of the recent rape incidents, but irony is that he is the brand ambassador of Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao campaign," he said.
