Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s Alok Kumar backs the move made by Assam Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal of shutting down Madrassas in the State.
He says, ‘In my understanding and I do not dispute that teaching of Quran and memorizing it is important but it is important to teach other things and if the Assam Government does that, the move should be welcomed. There cannot be schools who are only teaching a particular scripture, whatever it may be’.
Even BJP has lauded this lead of secularism, however, oppositions have expressed grief over this reform. Some are even revolting against the shutdown, demanding re-opening.
