05 Feb 2021: SC grants relief to Sonu Sood against BMC's notice
The Supreme Court on Friday granted relief to actor Sonu Sood who had moved the top court against an order by the Bombay High Court, dismissing his case against the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) notice.
The civic body had earlier issued a notice to Sood over alleged illegal construction at his residential building in Mumbai.
Here are more details on this.
Decision: No coercive action will be taken against Sood: SC
According to the SC, the civic body should first process and decide on a pending application, which was filed by Sood.
In the meantime, no coercive action will be taken against the actor.
Sood took to social media to share his stance and wrote, "Justice Prevails", adding, "Peace is not the absence of war but the presence of justice (sic)."
Details: 'SC has finally given me a breath of fresh air'
The actor wrote in his statement, "The Hon'ble Supreme Court has finally given me a breath of fresh air and time to take corrective measures. The structure was always legal, despite it being colored otherwise (sic)."
"My sole endeavour has been to conduct my business in a fair manner, with all the requisite permissions and clearances as may be required in law," he added.

Support: BJP has come out in support of Sood
After the top court's ruling in favor of Sood, BJP leader Ram Kadam told India Today TV that after Kangana Ranaut's case, this is "another big slap" on the face of not just the BMC, but also the state government.
"The state government acted against Sonu Sood because he exposed the failure of the Shiv Sena government (sic)," he said.
Fact: Kadam slams Shiv Sena-led government
Kadam further stated, "When his hotel was used for COVID relief then the civic body didn't find any flaw in the hotel but once the work was over there were faults everywhere. So, the designs were for everyone to see (sic)."
Case: BMC had filed a police complaint last month
Last month, the BMC had filed a complaint against Sood at Juhu Police station for allegedly carrying out illegal constructions at his residence in Juhu.
It sought FIR against the actor for converting the six-storey Shakti Sagar building into a hotel without the due permission from the civic body.
The actor denied the claims and said no "illegal or unauthorized" construction has been done.
