Sasikala to stay in Bengaluru prison, no special facilities provided: DIG, Central Jail

Responding to an RTI query, DIG, Central prison, Prapanna Agrahara said that the jail authorities have not received any application seeking Sasikala's transfer to Tamil Nadu.

The speculations about AIADMK general secretary VK Sasikala being shifted to Chennai from the Bengaluru's Parappana Agrahara Central Jail has now been laid to rest.

Responding to an RTI query filed by a lawyer and RTI activist Rajavelayutham from Chennai, DIG, Central prison, Prapanna Agrahara said that the jail authorities have not received any application seeking Sasikala's transfer to Tamil Nadu.

The query raised by the activist under the Right to Information Act included what facilities are being given to Sasikala and two other relatives Ilavarasi and VN Sudhakaran and whether the AIADMK general secretary would be shifted to a prison in Tamil Nadu.

According to the DIG, Sasikala has been provided a television set in her cell but other special facilities such as separate washroom, water heater, air conditioner, cot and mattress have not been provided.

Sasikala's nephew and AIADMK deputy general secretary TTV Dinakaran met her on February 20 and discussed the party's road ahead.

Several attempts were made by a group of ministers including KA Sengottaiyan to meet Sasikala, but the jail authorities have restricted access to her.
