In an unprecedented move, VK Sasikala and family has been shown the exit doors from the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam's (AIADMK), minister Jayakumar said.
Elaborating on the development, the minister after the meeting at Tamil Nadu chief minister E. Palaniswami's residence said, "Not one family can control AIADMK. We are ousting Sasikala and Mannargudi clan out of AIADMK."
Jayakumar said according to the party rules all MLAs, ministers and secretaries sat together to take a consensual decision to delink the family.
Describing the decision at the party as unanimous Jayakumar said, "It was based on views of all ministers including the chief minister, 123 MLAs, MPs and public."
Jayakumar said, "We have decided to delink TTV Dinakaran and his family from the party, a committee will run the party."
Amid talks of merger between the two warring factions of AIADMK former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Panneerselvam had already made it clear that he would settle for nothing less than ouster of VK Sasikala and her nephew TTV Dinakaran from the party.
According to reports, a panel will be formed to work on the merger of O.Panneerselvam and E.Palaniswami's factions. The panel would also look into the day-to-day functioning of the party.
Before giving a go-ahead to the merger, Panneerselvam had demanded removal of Sasikala and her family from the party.
O Panneerselvam earlier in the day said, "Dinakaran was not even member of the party till Amma's demise, elections for office-bearers of AIADMK was itself illegal."
