On Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Sarah Jessica Parker was asked about who might play the part of Samantha Jones in Sex and the City 3. The role recently became available when Kim Cattrall backed out of the film. Parker recently jokingly offered the part to Ellen DeGeneres and Stephen Colbert — and Cohen took exception.
“SJ, you’ve gone on some talk shows recently, said the role of Samantha could be recast, and you’ve offered the part to two other talks show hosts — Ellen DeGeneres and Stephen Colbert,” Cohen said. “What? I don’t see it.”
So naturally, Cohen threw on a wig and “auditioned” for the part with Parker by acting out a scene from Season 5 of Sex and the City.
After the audition, Cohen brought up the possibility of Sharon Stone playing Samantha. Parker said he wasn’t the first to suggest that and said it was a really interesting idea. But in the end, she said, the part belongs to Cohen.
“I think you’re more suited than Stephen Colbert, and I don’t think Ellen’s really interested. In fact, I think she passed. So the part, by default, is yours,” Parker said.
Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen airs Sun. to Thurs. at 11 p.m. on Bravo.
