Sanitation workers end strike after assurance by North Delhi mayor over major demands

North Delhi Mayor Jai Prakash stated that the sanitation workers of the NDMC have ended their strike after the civic body agreed to meet their main demands. The workers have ended the strike post assurance from the mayor over some major demands which included their pending salaries, permanent employment of temporary recruits, job on compassionate ground and resolution of other important issues. During a meeting of the NDMC House, Prakash had announced that the civic body has released Rs 516.67 crore for paying the pending salaries of several employees and pensioners. The sanitation workers will reportedly return to work from Sunday onwards.
