The update to the Note series comes after an usually long wait. Out here in India, the last Note device to enter the market was the Galaxy Note 5 Dual, after which the Note 7 was launched. As you well know by now, the Note 7 was later withdrawn from the market after units around the globe started catching fire. This time around, Samsung comes prepared and apart from the safety aspect, which is a given, there're a ton of new features for fans to play around with.
Under the 3D curved screen on the front lies a massive 6.3-inch Super AMOLED Infinity Display sporting a resolution of 1440x2960 pixels. Below it sits an Exynos 8895 chipset clocked at 2.3 GHz which is paired with 6 GB RAM and is available in 64, 128 and 256 GB internal storage options. The storage can be expanded via a microSD card slot found in the hybrid SIM tray. Cards of up to 256 GB in capacity are supported.
Samsung has gone in for a 12 MP + 12 MP dual rear camera setup. They both feature an f/1.7 aperture and one of them delivers a 2X optical zoom. Samsung has also included dual OIS for both the cameras at the rear. As for the front-facing unit, Samsung has gone in for an 8 MP, f/1.7 aperture unit that also features autofocus.
Connectivity options include 4G LTE bands with a dual SIM support, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth v 5.0, GPS, NFC and a USB 3.1 Type C port at the bottom.
