Samsung Galaxy A40 full specs and renders leaked, 25MP selfie camera, One UI and more revealed
Samsung is holding a special "A Galaxy Event" on April 10 where it is expected to announce a few new Galaxy A devices. There are rumours of a high-end Galaxy A90, but we are also hearing a lot about the Galaxy A40 as well. The Galaxy A40 slots in between the Galaxy A30 and Galaxy A50 (Review), both of which were launched in India recently. Ahead of its launch, a new report leaks pretty much everything there is to know about the Galaxy A40, including its expected price.
The latest specs and renders dump comes courtesy Winfuture.de, which managed to get hold of an official spec sheet of the Galaxy A40. Talking about the design first, the renders posted show a familiar design language that includes an edge-to-edge display on the front with a U-shaped waterdrop notch. The rear panel is likely of a glasstic variety with curved edges and corners. The Galaxy A40 will reportedly be available in Black, White, Blue and Coral colours. There will also be a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and a dual camera setup on the top left corner.
It seems the Galaxy A40 has gone official in the Netherlands as well, but some of the specs listed in a Dutch retailer website don't seem to corroborate with the specs mentioned by Winfuture.de. For one thing, the report with the official spec sheet mentions an Exynos 7904 chipset, while the Dutch website lists the Galaxy A40 with an Exynos 7885 SoC. The phone will come with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage with support for storage expandability. The Galaxy A40 will ship with the latest One UI based on Android Pie.
Interestingly the Galaxy A40 gets a smaller 5.9-inch FHD+ (2280x1080) Super AMOLED display compared to the Galaxy A30's 6.4-inch display. It also gets a smaller 3,100mAh battery compared to the Galaxy A30 and A50, both of which offer 4,000mAh batteries. No surprises that the Galaxy A40 gets a 5MP f/2.2 ultra wide-angle secondary camera much like most Galaxy A and Galaxy M devices this year. The primary camera gets a 16MP f/1.7 sensor. On the front, the Galaxy A40 gets a 25MP f/2.0 camera housed in the notch.
The Galaxy A40 is said to weigh just 140 grams and will measure 7.9mm in thickness. The Galaxy A40 could be announced alongside the Galaxy A90 on April 10, or Samsung could launch the device earlier as well as reports are coming in that it is already official in the Netherlands. It is expected to cost around EUR 250 (approx Rs 19,500). You can expect the Galaxy A40 in India soon as well.
