Olympian and former I’m A Celebrity star Sam Quek is six months pregnant – less than a year after suffering a devastating miscarriage.
The former hockey star has spoken of her delight at the pregnancy, as well as opening up about the heartbreak she and husband Tom Mairs struggled with after losing a baby earlier in the year.
Speaking to OK! magazine, she said: "It’s been quite surreal because we’ve kept it private. Being able to talk about it, it now feels real. I’m really, really excited."
Quek, 32, and property entrepreneur Mairs had been trying to conceive for a year when they discovered she was expecting at the beginning of 2020.
But tragedy struck when she suffered a miscarriage weeks later.

I am delighted to (finally) announce that I am 6 months pregnant 🙂
After a devastating miscarriage earlier this year, I kept the news very private. However I’m now in a place where I can talk about what happened in the hope my experience can help others.https://t.co/cIomVHBXsN

Discussing the difficult period, Quek said: "I didn’t want to speak to anyone. I had guilt and shame that it was my fault.
"I was looking back at everything I did during pregnancy and replaying every single minute. I put it all on me and my body. But I never said that to Tom at the time."
She has since spoken of her happiness at the news on social media.
She tweeted her 180,000 followers to say: “I am delighted to (finally) announce that I am 6 months pregnant.
“After a devastating miscarriage earlier this year, I kept the news very private. However I’m now in a place where I can talk about what happened in the hope my experience can help others.”
The couple met after a night out in their native Liverpool in 2013. They later married in a plush event at Chester Racecourse in 2018.
Quek represented both England and Great Britain, playing field hockey as a defender. She was part of the GB team who won gold at the 2016 Olympics.
She has since enjoyed a career on television, taking part in reality TV shows such as I’m A Celeb and Celebrity Masterchef.
She has also presented TV and radio shows covering sports such as hockey, rugby and football.
