Royal Enfield launched their first 650cc motorcycles in the Indian market, almost a year ago. Since then, the two 650cc offerings from the Chennai-based brand has been received extremely well in the Indian market.

The company in the month of September 2019 registered 1,856 units of the 650-twin, this includes the Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650. The two motorcycles have now become one of the best-selling premium offerings in the Indian market, overtaking all its rivals by a significant margin.

The Royal Enfield 650-twins sales have overtaken the likes of the KTM Duke 390, Bajaj Dominar 400, Kawasaki Ninja 300 and the TVS Apache RR 310. The Chennai-based motorcycle manufacturer has registered 1,856 units of combined sales from the 650-twins.

This compared to its rivals is significantly higher. The KTM Duke & RC 390 together have registered 398 units of sales; the Bajaj Dominar 400 registered 828 units and the TVS Apache RR 310 recorded sales of 300 units; all during the same month.

Other motorcycles in the same segment including the Kawasaki Ninja 300, Honda CB300R and the Yamaha YFZ-R3, also registered low sales of 119, 96 and 32 units, respectively during the same period.

The Royal Enfield 650-twins also dominates the middle-weight motorcycle segment as well. The Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650 also rival the likes of the Harley-Davidson Street Rod and Street 750 in the higher segment.

The two 650cc offerings from Royal Enfield are powered by the same 649cc parallel-twin cylinder liquid-cooled engine. It produces 48bhp and 52Nm of peak torque and is mated to a six-speed gearbox. The two motorcycles are also offered with a host of technology and features, making it a very attractive product in its price range.

Some of the features on the two Royal Enfield 650-Twins include a classic retro-design, comfortable riding ergonomics, slipper clutch, dual-channel ABS, Pirelli-wrapped wheels, preload-adjustable rear suspension and 43mm telescopic forks at the front; and a host of others.
