Row over BSF DG attending RSS event in Kolkata, TMC to take up issue with home minister
A top BSF officer has stirred a massive row after he allegedly attended a conference on border security conducted by an RSS-affiliated organisation in Kolkata.
Serving BSF DG KK Sharma took part in the two-day event that concluded in Kolkata today. The event was organised by the Semanta Chetana Manch, part of the RSS-backed Seema Jagran Manch, a pan-India body which aims to instill patriotism in border areas across the country.
The ruling TMC in West Bengal has taken serious exception to the development and has decided to lodge it's formal complaint.
Questioning the officer's conduct, TMC spokesperson Derek O'Brien has tweeted, "What is a serving BSF DG, KK Sharma, doing in uniform at "RSS-backed NGO's function in Kolkata"? We will take issue to Home Minister."
The development comes on the heels of a similar controversy in Uttar Pradesh where a senior IPS officer was found taking pledge for the early construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.
