Risky driving: Buses race on Tamil Nadu road, put lives of passengers at risk

In the race, one of the two buses was seen treading on the wrong side of the road which was a rough gravelly surface.

In a recent viral video, the citizens of Tamil Nadu are seen going through a dangerous bus journey only to feed the egos of careless and adrenaline junkie drivers. The incident occurred on the Coimbatore - Pollachi highway.

For many years, people of Tamil Nadu have complained about rash driving of heavy motor vehicles by the public and private transport drivers, especially on the inter-state roads. The government has assured in the past that speed checking devices would be installed but nothing has been done so far.

In the video, the two buses can be seen competing with each other. In the race, one of the two buses was seen treading on the wrong side of the road which was a rough gravelly surface. Not only the passengers aboard the buses, but fellow commuters too were put in grave danger.

The incident led to a clouds of dust that almost blinded fellow commuters.

Following the incident, authorities were informed which later suspended the licenses of the drivers, said sources.

As per statistics, 15,642 road accidental deaths were recorded in the year 2015. Yet, state government has not come up with a clear report since then.
