Rewari Rape Case: Supreme Court Slams Media for Revealing Rape Victim's Identity

Chandigarh, September 18: Supreme Court today slammed a section of the media for revealing rape victim’s identity in Rewari gang rape case. According to an ANI update, the Apex Court had said, "There is something very wrong. Rewari is not a big city. We are only concerned about the identity of the victim." This is following the brutal sexual assault on a 19-year-old girl in Haryana's Rewari.

The victim's mother as quoted in an earlier ANI report, claimed that some officials had approached her on Saturday with compensatory cheques. "I am returning it today, as we want justice and not money. It has now been 5 days and none of the accused has been arrested till now," she said. The sexual assault has left her in a state of physical and mental trauma, with her condition being monitored at the district hospital in Rewari. Rewari Gangrape Case: Haryana Police's SIT Makes First Arrest, Three Main Accused Yet to be Held. 

The Haryana Police on Sunday arrested two men- a doctor and the owner of the tube-well and nabbed the key accused. Ten teams have been formed under a Special Investigation Team (SIT), to probe the Rewari gangrape case. Nuh Superintendent of Police (SP) Naazneen Bhasin informed that within 30 hours the SIT has arrested two people - Deen Dayal and Dr Sanjeev while the main accused Nishu was nabbed.
