In view of the need for tightened security measures on Independence Day, the Jammu and Kashmir (JandK) government has decided to impose "some restrictions" in the region on August 15, even as the security situation continues to be "calm" in the state, informed Rohit Kansal, JandK's Principal Secretary for Planning Commission. "There will be some restrictions for tomorrow. The overall security situation continues to be calm. There have been no major reports of any untoward incident," Kansal said. Speaking on the arrest of youth leader Shah Faesal, Kansal said, "Any detention or arrest is based on local assessment of law and order requirement and taken accordingly. We will not comment on individuals."
