Republic Day Parade controversy: Opposition parties demand cancellation of festivities

After the UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson canceled his visit to India for Republic Day celebrations due to the coronavirus situation in his country, the opposition parties have suggested cancellation of the annual parade stating that gathering crowds to cheer the Republic Day parade, as usual, would be "irresponsible". Shiv Sena and NCP have backed this idea while the BJP hit back on them attacking the Gandhis for being "against republic".
