Puducherry, Jan 13 (PTI) Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy on Wednesday described as baseless reports that Malladi Krishna Rao had resigned as Health Minister.

In a video message, the Chief Minister said reports that Rao had quit as Minister and handed the resignation letter to him were 'absolutely incorrect and misleading'.

Rao was elected from the lone constituency in Yanam,an enclave of Puducherry in Andhra Pradesh.

Narayanasamy said Rao had been chiefly instrumental for the development of his constituency (Yanam) and was felicitated at a function there recently.

Yanam has made stupendous progress because of the hard work put in by Rao for the last 25 years,he said.

Narayanasamy said Rao as Health Minister had made a mark in initiating steps to ensure that nothing was left wanting in treatment of Covid stricken patients in government hospitals here and outlying regions.

'No other State would have perhaps seen such a dedicated Minister in ensuring undelayed attention to the Covid-19 patients,{ Narayanasamy said, adding that Rao had also resorted to cleaning toilets in the government hospitals voluntarily.

The government would felicitate the minister on the floor of the Assembly when it convenes its session shortly.

'I appeal to the media not to spread baseless and unconfirmed reports just to create sensation,' the Chief Minister said, dismissing reports that Rao had submitted the resignation letter to him.

'Such reports are baseless and intended to cause confusion among the people,' he added.PTI COR BN WELCOME BN WELCOME
