Remdesivir extremely expensive; black marketing is rampant as a result of the shortage

In the wake of a sudden increase in demand due to a surge in coronavirus cases across the country, Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan called for strict action against those found indulging in black marketing and hoarding of anti-viral drug Remdesivir used in Covid-19 care. Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizer DV Sadananda Gowda spoke exclusively to Times Now on Thursday, amid the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic sweeping the world. The Union Minister elaborated on India's efforts to increase production capacity and stockpile Remdesivir during his conversation.The Union Minister stated that the number of Coronavirus cases in the country has increased since February, and that Remdesivir production has increased as well, with the government banning its export. He said that as the number of cases grew, a key meeting was convened to increase drug development.
