While prominent airliners in the country has banned Shiv Sena MP Ravindra Gaikwad after he assaulted an Air India staffer on Thursday, an independent MLA has come forward in his defence.
MLA Bachchu Kadu, from Achalpur constituency of Maharashtra's Amravati District, today said that Gaikwad did the right thing. He said that if Gaikwad beat him up, then the Air India Staffer there must have been some reason.
Further justifying his stand, Kadu went on to say that he had slapped 20 officers in the past.
"Some officers behave badly with elected representatives, what do you expect us to do? Stand with folded hands and request?" asked Kadu.
He added that he will stand firmly with Gaikwad.
MP Ravindra Gaikwad made headlines after he beat up an Air India staffer with his slippers for about 25 times. The MP had a business class coupon, while he was intimated that the AI 852 was an all-economy flight and that it did not have a business class.
The agitated MP allegedly took off his slippers and beat up the staffer after the plane arrived in Delhi from Pune at about 10.30 am on Thursday.
Following the incident, Air India cancelled his return ticket to Pune, while other private airliners soon followed suit and refused to fly him.
