Greece was braced for a rare Mediterranean cyclone, dubbed Ianos, as strong wind and rain lashed the country’s west coast on September 18.
This footage, posted to Twitter, shows wind gusts causing trees to sway at a hotel on the island of Zakynthos.
Local reports said boat owners on the island were working to secure their vessels after at least two sank and 10 were damaged.
The Greek weather office warned of large amounts of rain and a risk of flooding from September 18-19, reports said.
The European Storm Forecast Experiment said the cyclone possibly reached hurricane-force by September 17 and was likely to bring “widespread hurricane-force wind gusts and extremely intense rainfall.” Credit: @Constantine_Sin via Storyful
