Raped repeatedly by neighbour, minor girl battles for life

The girl was raped several times by her neighbour, who kept her hostage inside his flat here for two days.

NEW DELHI: A five-year-old girl was abducted from outside her house and raped repeatedly by her neighbour.

The girl is battling for her life at a hospital in East Delhi.

A CNN-IBN report says that the minor was subjected to torture and her private parts were mutilated which have resulted in infection.

CNN-IBN quoted a doctor treating the girl saying: 'The child's condition is very critical. She is in ICU right now. She will be under observation for the next 24-48 hours. There were foreign objects found inside her and this has resulted in infection.'

A 200 ml bottle and pieces of candle were inserted into the private parts of the five-year-old rape victim, a doctor said Friday, adding that he had "never seen such a case".

"Upon examination, we found a 200 ml bottle and two or three pieces of candle inserted into her private parts. This is the first time that I have seen such barbarism with a five-year-old," R.K. Bansal, medical superintendent, Swami Dayanand Hospital, told reporters.

"There were injuries on her lips and cheeks and bruise marks on her neck, suggesting that attempts were made to strangle her. The blood pressure was way below normal, and she had fever when she was admitted," the doctor said.

"The child's condition is very critical. She is in ICU right now and will be under observation for the next 24-48 hours," he said.

The girl was raped several times by her neighbour, who kept her hostage inside his flat here for two days, said police Thursday.

The accused, in his 30s, lived on ground floor of the building in east Delhi's Gandhi Nagar in which the victim also stayed, police said, refusing to give any more details about him.

The girl was rescued when her family members said they heard her screams emanating from the accused's flat Wednesday evening, police said.

"The girl was in an unconscious condition when she was rescued from the flat. The accused managed to escape," said a police officer.
