Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor’s Padmavati All Set To Break The Box Office Record Of Prabhas’ Baahubali 2? Expert Reveals!

Padmavati is getting a very wide release in India, more than Baahubali 2

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus, Padmavati is easily one of the most anticipated movies of this year. The period drama stars Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor. Although the film has faced MANY hurdles ever since it went on floors, but we EXCLUSIVELY told you that it’s still releasing as per schedule on November 17, 2017, as opposed to the rumours of it being delayed and pushed to February next year. We have also learnt that Padmavati will have a very wide release in India as it is being released in over 8000 screens. The last film to have enjoyed such a huge screen count was SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2 starring Prabhas, Rana Daggubatti and Anushka Shetty.

That got us thinking and so we decided to get in touch with senior journalist and film critic Latha Srinivasan, considering she put out this news on Twitter yesterday. Ask her if Padmavati will manage to beat the box office record of Baahubali 2 or for that matter any Bollywood film so far, and she says, “Padmavati is actually opening in 500 more screens in India than Baahubali 2. So this in effect means that it could see more collection than any other Hindi film in the first three days of its release. Looking at the star cast and the kind of films, SLB is known to make, this one too is going to be a grand film and people will watch to want it.” ALSO READ: Ranveer Singh And Deepika Padukone Secretly Holidaying In London?

Just to put it here, Baahubali 2 managed to earn Rs 121 crore (all languages including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malyalam and Kannada) on the very first day, while by the end of the opening weekend, the film collected Rs 335 crore. Aamir Khan’s Dangal was another monster success as it made Rs 29.78 crore on the first day and Rs 106.95 crore by the end of first weekend.

Ask Latha if these stories about the delay in release dampens audiences’ interest or helps it instead? And she says, “The audience’s interest will not wither because it’s a lavish period film. Moreover the real life romance between Deepika and Ranveer adds to the spice of the film. Any film with such a large budget is likely to have delays and the controversy it has generated adds to its intrigue. People are now curious.”

Although a source close to the film has told us that Padmavati is definitely releasing this year, but there has been no official confirmation from the makers. So if it all it’s shifted to next year, will it have any effect on the careers of the star cast, we asked. And Latha was quick to reply, “The lead stars are working on other projects also. They may want to see the release of the film quickly but I think SLB will ensure that he gives a good product to the audience even if means he has to delay its release.”

Well, we just hope that there is an official confirmation from the makers soon as fans are just done with all the suspense, and so are we.
