Ramadhar Dhurandhar Receives Shrilal Shukla Smriti IFFCO Sahitya Samman This Year
New Delhi, Dec 15: Renowned Hindi novelist Ramadhar ‘Dhurandhar’ was awarded Shrilal Shukla Smriti IFFCO Sahitya Samman on Friday by the leading fertiliser company, Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative. The company, in a release, said the panel, chaired by Devi Prasad Tripathi, to decide the award consisted of senior litterateurs including Nityanand Tiwari, Murli Manohar Prasad Singh and Chandrakantha and poet Dr Dinesh Kumar Shukla. Dhurandhar will receive Rs 11 Lakh and a memento on January 31, 2018.
Expressing pleasure at the decision, Chairman-cum-Managing Director Uday Shankar Tripathi said honouring Mauritius based author will bring international recognition to the award. The author’s contribution in reflecting the struggle of Indians is also an attempt to honour the Indians residing abroad.
Ramadhar ‘Dhurandhar’ has authored his novel ‘Pathreela Sona’, he has highlighted the struggle of Indian labourers who were brought to Mauritius in the colonial era. He has also authored Chhoti Machhli Badi Machhli’, ‘Chehro Ka Aadmi’, ‘Bante Bigadte Rishte’, and ‘Puchho Iss Maati Se’.
IFFCO has started Shrilal Shukla Smriti IFFCO Sahitya Samman in 2011 in the memory of renowned writer and administrator Shrilal Shukla. Shukla has authored the best selling novel Raag Darbari. The Award is given every year to authors who have been highlighting problems related to rural-agricultural life. After its commencement, Shri Vidyasagar Nautiyal, Mr Shekhar Joshi, Mr Sanjeev, Mr Mithileswar, Mr Ashtabhuja Shukla and Mr Kamalakant Tripathi have been given the award.
