Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has apologised for his crass tweets on Women’s Day after receiving a backlash online and from certain political parties. On Thursday night, RGV tweeted his apology by posting this message:
Was just expressing my feelings but I apologise to all who were offended due to my unintended insensitive tweets in context of women's day— Ram Gopal Varma (@RGVzoomin) March 9, 2017
But his apology came with a disclaimer:
My apology is only to those who genuinely got offended and not to those who ranted for publicity nd threatened to take law into their hands— Ram Gopal Varma (@RGVzoomin) March 9, 2017
His tweet obviously refers to NCP leader Jitendra Awhad, who had threatened RGV via a tweet to apologise.
The usually nonchalant Ram Gopal Varma may have been pressurised to issue an apology after BJP MLA Ram Kadam took up the controversy and stated that the filmmaker would not be allowed to shoot in the city unless he said sorry. RGV who is already on a career low, probably didn’t want to mess up things with the ruling party in Maharashtra.
But the BJP leaders in Delhi, didn’t seem to have a problem with RGV’s tweets. Check out Hema Malini’s reaction here:
Don’t be surprised with Ramu entirely stops his inane tweets until his next big project Sarkar 3 has a smooth release.
