Rajinikanth’s Fans Gather in Trichy, Hopeful of the Superstar Confirming His Entry Into Politics
Chennai, August 20: Amid speculations turning rife over Rajanikanth’s entry into politics, fans of the actor have gathered today in Trichy, hopeful of a definite signal from their icon. The fans expect the Tamil superstar to end the suspense and make clear his intentions to enter the political arena. Although Rajinikanth would not be present at the meet, his key aide would be conveying a “message” to his supporters.
Tamilaruvimanian, the organiser of the event told NDTV that he will explain fans about Rajini and his agenda and convey the message of the fans to the superstar. As per reports, Rajinikanth has a clear agenda which is interlinking all rivers of Southern India, corruption-free state, transparent and good governance.
Speculations of 66-year-old actor stepping into political arena grew stronger after Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Amit Shah invited him to join his outfit. Later, Shah made it clear that he wants people with clean heart to join politics. Recently, Poonam Mahajan, the Yuva Morcha national president of the saffron party visited the veteran actor at his residence. But the BJP clarified by saying visit of Mahajan was not political in nature and shouldn’t be equated to politics by all means. Also, the superstar attended a meeting organised by DMK in Chennai recently.
It all started when the actor hinted to his fans about entering into politics at an interaction event. There were rumours that he might form his own party.” To change the corrupt and settled rotten system in the DNA of politics we all must come together,” Rajnikanth had said. He didn’t hammer down reports of meeting voters at ground level to be programmed for the basic understanding but said the announcement will be made once things will be finalised.
The actor, way back in 1996 had said that Even Lord cannot save Tamil Nadu if Jayalalithaa is elected to run the state again and this big statement helped Karunanidhi’s DMK in alliance with Mamata Banerjee’s TMC sweep elections. Later he called it a big mistake. He managed to stay away from politics even after being a neighbour of late Jayalalithaa at Poes garden in Chennai.
Subramanian Swamy lambasted the actor’s political aspirations
BJP leader Subramanian Swamy wasn’t unhappy with the speculations of Rajinikanth joining politics as he found the latter unfit who lack basic knowledge of politics. Speaking to India Today, on June 24, Swamy alleged that the superstar committed financial fraud.
