Raj Babbar resigns as Congress Uttar Pradesh president

Raj Babbar on Tuesday resigned as Uttar Pradesh Congress (UPC) president said party sources. However, his resignation still hasn't been accepted by the Congress leadership.

Raj Babbar on Tuesday resigned as Uttar Pradesh Congress (UPC) president said party sources. However, his resignation still hasnt been accepted by the Congress leadership.

Sources confirmed that the till his resignation accepted he will continue to work as the UPC chief. Reports suggest that a person from the Brahmin community is likely to be the next chief of the Congress Unit. Jitin Prasad, Rajesh Mishra and Laliteshpati Tripathi are also in contention.

There is a possibility that on the lines of Gujarat, Congress UP unit will have one president and four vice presidents. Each VP will have his own zone wherein theyll work, said sources.

After Gujarat PCC Bharat Sinh Solanki and Goa PCC Shantaram Naik, Raj Babbar is third state chief who has resigned in last 36 hours.

These leaders were present at Congress Plenary Session.

Solanki did maintain that he has gone abroad due to some personal visit, Naik made it clear that he has put in his papers to make way for young leader.
