In a bizarre coincidence tailor-made for social media lampooning, a candidate named ‘Rahul Modi’ cracked the prestigious UPSC Civil Services Exam, the results for which were declared on the official website on Tuesday.

This portmanteau of the names of India’s two fiercest political rivals — Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi — would have been enough to set Twitter on fire.

But what made Rahul Modi’s achievement even more interesting is that he ranked 420 on the merit list.

Modi (Rahul, that is!) is likely to make it into the Central Services Group, given his rank.

The final UPSC 2019 result is available on the official UPSC website and a total of 829 candidates have been selected.
