Addressing a gathering in Gujarat’s Amreli on 6 December, Yogi said there “isn't any iota of doubt that Gujarat election is linked to Gujarat's pride” and that “Prime Minister Narendra Modi embodies that pride”.
“Keeping their sense of respect intact, Gujarat’s citizens will come out in full support of the prime minister during elections. The support will help establish Gujarat as the nation’s and therefore the world’s model state of development,” he added.
Continuing with his sharp retort, he said that in the past election results in the Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, Congress has been defeated miserably with ‘two zeroes’ on the performance radar. This will in-turn pave way for another ’zero’ in Congress’ kitty in the election.
“Under Congress’ leadership, development was not visible. Development was absent from the public discourse as it was not happening in the first place. There were no roads, water, electricity, employment or highways,” said Yogi, lambasting Rahul Gandhi for disputing their claims on Gujarat’s development track record.
“It was only after 1995 and when Modiji took over as Chief Minister, is when Gujarat’s development progressed at a faster rate. Every village had road connectivity. Every village had electricity. Efforts were made to deliver water to every home, to every farm,” said Adityanath.
He further added that Gandhi has always been in-absentia during the Godhra riots-talk and that Gandhi was nowhere to be seen during an earthquake that hit Gujarat, 17 years ago. “Let it be as Gandhi was a toddler during that time,” Yogi signed off.
“But it was the mafias who bred under Congress because Rahul Gandhi has inherited mafia as part of his legacy. The word mafia comes from Italy,” he said.
Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh CMThose raising questions on Gujarat elections and projecting Congress as the prime contender in the election, I want to tell all that zero plus zero is a zero.
The chief minister also lashed out at the Congress for “playing” with the faith of the Hindu community over the issue of construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya. The leader's remark came after senior Congress leader and lawyer Kapil Sibal sought deferment of hearing on the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute till 2019.
“It is like playing mischievously with the Hindu belief. The Congress will have to clarify whether it wants to see the Ram Mandir constructed in Ayodhya or not,” he said.
"The Congress government at the Centre had tried to demolish the Ram Setu which was built due to the effort of Lord Ram. When the matter was challenged in the Supreme Court, the Congress government had filed an affidavit raising question on the existence of Ram and Krishna," he said.
The BJP leader reminded people of Gandhi’s alleged remark that "people go to temple to tease women". He also suggested Gandhi to go to the temple as a matter of personal faith, not out of pretense.
Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh CMRahul Gandhi should be asked that when he does not believe in Ram, Shiva, Krishna and when he said that people go to temple to tease women, then why do you go to the temple? Nothing wrong in going to temple but do so out of faith and not hypocrisy.
