Rooney provides timely reminder of United worth

Wayne Rooney provided a timely reminder to Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal that he can be a prolific Premier League goalscorer after he netted a brace in a 2-0 win against Sunderland to help United go third. Van Gaal restored Rooney to an advanced position after trialing him in a number of positions across United's midfield -- to accommodate misfiring pair Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao -- in the last two months. Man United missing '20-goal striker', says Van Gaal

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal says his expensively assembled squad has not challenged for the Premier League title this season because they do not have a prolific striker like their rivals. Despite spending more than 150 million pounds ($231.48 million) in the close season, including a six-million pound season-long loan deal for Colombia striker Radamel Falcao, United have looked uncharacteristically subdued when going forward during the campaign. Van Gaal has come under scrutiny …

Los Angeles, Jan 23 (IANS) Actor Daniel Radcliffe is listening to heavy metal music to bring out his inner demon as he prepares for his role in the new film "Horns".

In the film, the 23-year-old star compels people to tell him their darkest secrets after he mysteriously grows a pair of horns like a devil overnight.

Radcliffe, who rose to fame with the "Harry Potter" franchise, says music is helping him connect with his inner evil.

"I'm listening to a lot of metal and allowing that slightly demonic rock 'n' roll spirit out," Radcliffe said.

"There's nothing else like it," he added.

Directed by Alexandre Aja, "Horns" is based on author Joe Hill's novel by the same name.
