1. Rishi Kapoor, Nagarjuna, Others React to Telangana Cop Encounter

All four accused in the rape and murder of a 25-year-old veterinarian were shot dead in an encounter by the Cyberabad police in the wee hours of Friday, 6 December at Chatanpally in Mahabubnagar district. According to the police, the accused were killed in an exchange of fire which also saw two policemen sustain injuries.

Ever since the sensational news broke, social media has been abuzz with reactions. While some are questioning the encounter, others are hailing the Telangana police. Several celebs, including Rishi Kapoor, Vivek Oberoi and several South stars like Nagarjuna Akkineni, Jr NTR, Hansika Motwani, among others, reacted to the news of the encounter.

“Bravo Telangana Police. My congratulations!” said Rishi Kapoor, while Nagarjuna wrote, “Justice has been served”.

2. Have Applied for an Indian Passport, Announces Akshay

Akshay Kumar’s citizenship status has been the subject of controversy, with many claiming that he holds a Canadian citizenship rather than an Indian one. The debate was amplified by his conspicuous absence from polling booths when Mumbai went to polls on 29 April, the “completely non-political” interview with Prime Minister Narendra Modi that he conducted a few days prior, and his penchant for signing films with a patriotic sentiment such as Gold, Airlift and Kesari.

At an event hosted by Hindustan Times, the actor said that he had now applied for an Indian passport and opened up about the circumstances that led him to acquire a Canadian one.

3. ‘Ghost Stories’ Teaser Will Scare You out of Your Wits

Karan Johar, Zoya Akhtar, Dibakar Banerjee and Anurag Kashyap have released a teaser for their upcoming anthology Ghost Stories. The clip begins with a girl standing by a bench that overlooks a bare tree. We also get glimpses of eerie things taking place inside a house. An old woman is seen looking menacingly at something, a child screams, a woman attempts to feed a doll and other unnatural things will scare you out of your wits. The anthology will drop on Netflix on 1 January.

4. PC Honoured for Contribution to Cinema at Marrakech Film Fest

Priyanka Chopra was honoured for her contribution to cinema at the Marrakech International Film Festival on 5 December. The actor took to Instagram to share a few pictures from the red carpet along with a note of thanks. “To think that my career started nearly 20 years ago is surreal. I am honored and proud to be recognized tonight at the Marrakesh Film Festival. Thank you, truly, to everyone who came out to Jemaa el Fna square. #Gratitude. Thank you,” she wrote.

Anushka Sharma took to Instagram to mourn the demise of popular Bollywood make-up artist Subhash Vagal, fondly known as Subbu, who passed away on 6 December. He has worked with several top celebs including Kareena Kapoor and Tabu. The actor shared a heartfelt tribute calling him kind, humble and “a beautiful soul”.
