Anurag Kashyap, co-director of Sacred Games hailed Congress President Rahul Gandhi’s statement about exercising one’s “fundamental democratic right”.

Amid a row over alleged use of derogatory language in Netflix series, Sacred Gameswhile referring to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, Rahul said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) believe that freedom of expression must be policed, while he regards it as a “fundamental democratic right”.

2. Sonam Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Gauri Shinde at Dhadak Screening

Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter’s Dhadak is all set to release on 20 July. The makers held a special screening of the film for their friends and well-wishers. Sonam Kapoor even took to Instagram after watching the film and congratulated Janhvi for making a “fantastic debut”. Almost the entire Kapoor khandaan came to watch Janhvi’s film including, Anil, Sunita, Boney, Khushi, Sanjay, Maheep, and Mohit Marwah with Antara Motiwala.

Karan Johar, Manish Malhotra, Shashank Khaitan, R Balki, Gauri Shinde, Varun Dhawan and others were also spotted.

3. Saif Ali Khan Reacts to the Controversy Over ‘Sacred Games’

We spoke to Saif Ali Khan about his role in the first Indian Netflix original Sacred Games, which is getting rave reviews across. Saif, who is currently in London, talked about the controversy that has erupted around the web series, after members of the Congress party complained about the show having insulted former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.

"I don’t know how much you can criticise your government in India, somebody might kill you. In parts of the Middle East, if you say something against Islam, like Salman Rushdie, you have fatwas issued. And the western world says, so terrible there’s no freedom of speech but there isn’t of course, there isn’t in places.  "

4. Fortunate to Be Offered Variety: ‘Dhadak’ Actor Ishaan Khatter

He is all of 22. But he has already worked with iconic Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi in his maiden India-set movie Beyond The Clouds. Now Ishaan Khatter is geared up for the release of his second big canvas entertainer Dhadak. He says he is very fortunate to get offered variety so early in his career.

"I am fortunate to be offered variety in such a short span of time. I managed to make my debut with my favourite Majid Majidi, whereas 'Dhadak' is giving me a huge mass exposure. I just hope that I maintain the balance. Critics have been so kind of me to praise my performance in my debut film," Ishaan told IANS in an interview here.

The female characters in Sacred Games - Radhika Apte, Kubbra Sait, Rajshri Deshpande - have been garnering a lot of attention from the audience, and rightly so. We spoke to actor and activist Rajshri Deshpande who plays Subhadra, gangster Ganesh Gaitonde’s wife. Rajshri candidly spoke about shooting the nude scenes with Nawazuddin Siddiqui and more.

"We are not titillating anyone, we are just showing the love between a husband and his wife. It’s not being shot in a way where the camera is slowly going on her while she is opening her button, nothing. It just quickly happens and we move on. I didn’t have any inhibitions because it is a part of their narrative structure." - Rajshri Deshpande
