1. GIS Mapping of Properties Likely After Lok Sabha Polls

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) plans to take up GIS mapping of all properties in the city after Parliamentary elections, in an effort to increase its revenue through property tax.

GIS mapping of properties has been done across municipalities by the initiative of the Commissioner and Director of Municipal Administration, but despite talk about it for over six years, it is yet to be carried out in Hyderabad.

2. Consumers Fume as Road Digging Hits BSNL Internet

People are complaining of disrupted BSNL internet connection at Gachibowli.

People are complaining of disrupted BSNL internet connection at Gachibowli. Services at the Indian School of Business and nearby My Home Vihanga, a complex that houses nearly 2,000 apartments, have been poor due to alleged digging work, according to reports.

The Indian School of Business at ISB Road has BSNL and RailTel as internet service providers and spokesperson Sundeep Jammalamadaka confirmed that BSNL services were disrupted several times last week.

3. Congress Slams Sabitha Indra Reddy for Loyalty Shift

Congress leaders condemned former minister Sabitha Indra Reddy joining the TRS. They said she had enjoyed all facilities but criticised the party after joining the TRS. They said the Congress had given her much respect.

Former minister G Prasad Kumar, legislator Pilot Rohit Reddy and former MLAs K Laxma Reddy and Rammohan Reddy asked if Ms Indra Reddy could achieve the objectives of former minister late P Indra Reddy by joining the TRS. They said, “betrayers of TS movement” were in the TRS government.

4. Secunderabad Cantonment Board Roads to Reopen for General Public

Following the reports regarding the night-time closures on the roads in the Secunderabad Cantonment Board(SCB), the Southern Command Headquarters has ordered the Secunderabad Military station to lift the restrictions imposed on the roads on Thursday.

The roads in the SCB had restricted access for over 25 days after the Pulwama attack, while public roads in all the other cantonments were open. The decision to lift the restrictions should give immense relief to the lakhs of civilians staying on the eastern side of the cantonment, and also to visitors to the areas from the western side.

5. High Court to GHMC: Don’t Cut Indira Park Trees

Bringing some relief to those flocking Indira Park for leisure and exercise, the Hyderabad High Court on Thursday directed the GHMC not to shift the tennis court nor cut trees in the park till further orders.

Dealing with a petition filed by 102 residents staying near the Indira Park, Justice Challa Kodandaram directed the GHMC to ensure that no damage is caused to the park in the name of road expansion.
