1. Hyderabad: Zilla, Mandal Parishad Polls Likely From 22 April

Politicians will have to get busy with another campaign, this time for the local body elections.

With the clearance from the Election Commission, the state government is taking steps to conduct elections to the zilla parishad and mandal parishad in Telangana state before 23 May — the results day for the Lok Sabha elections.

2. Another NIA Chargesheet in Fake Note Case

The National Investigation Agency, Hyderabad, on Friday, 12 April, filed a supplementary chargesheet against one of the accused persons in the case of trafficking of high quality Fake Indian Currency Notes from Bangladesh to Bengaluru.

This is the fourth supplementary chargesheet filed by the NIA in the case, where about Rs 5,01,500 of FICN were caught at the Vishakhapatnam railway station in 2015.

3. Woman Gets Life for Murdering Baby Girl

A woman from Chandanagar who murdered her 18-month-old niece by throwing her in a water drum was convicted by the LB Nagar court on Friday, 12 April. The woman was directed by the court to undergo life imprisonment.

A case was registered by the Chandanagar police against T Rajya Lakshmi, 24, a housewife from the Weaker Section Colony, on 30 June 2015, for the murder of her 18-month-old niece.

4. Metro Station in Madhapur Will Be Thrown Open for Travelers From Today

Madhapur Metro Station on the recently inaugurated Ameerpet-Hitec City stretch will be thrown open for passenger traffic from Saturday. With this, seven of the eight stations on the Hietc City stretch of the Hyderabad metro will be open for public.

5. Turnout Revised in Hyderabad, Secunderabad

After two revisions in less than 24 hours, the GHMC announced the final figures of voter turnout in Hyderabad and Secunderabad parliamentary constituencies, which are five to six percentage points higher than the initial figures.

As per the revised data, the polling percentage of Hyderabad constituency stands at 44.75 percent and that of Secunderabad at 46.26 percent. The overall voter turnout in Hyderabad district, comprising these two constituencies, stands at 45.51 percent.
