QHyderabad: 40 Electric Buses Launched; 40,000 GHMC Houses by Aug

1. Fleet of 40 Electric Buses Hits Hyderabad Roads

For the first time in the country, Telangana State Road Transport Corporation inaugurated its first fleet of 40 electric buses in the city on Tuesday.  The buses were launched from Miyapur depot here and will ferry people to the Hyderabad International Airport from various locations in the city. These buses will approximately make 10 trips each day.

With the induction of 40 electric buses, electric vehicle manufacturer Olectra-BYD has enabled TSRTC to deploy the largest fleet of electric buses by any State Transport Utility in the country. Named eBuzz K9, the AC low floor buses will be able to accommodate 39 +1 driver.  Charged to the capacity for 4 hours, the single electric bus will be able to travel more than 250 km at a stretch.

2. 40,000 Houses to Be Ready by August

Citing the delay in sanction of funds from the government, the GHMC has now extended the deadline to December.

Against the target of one lakh double bedroom houses in the city, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has managed to complete the construction of 612 2BHK houses which includes both in-situ (slums) and vacant lands identified for the project. Citing the delay in sanction of funds from the government, the civic body has now extended the deadline to December.

An official claimed that as many as 40,000 houses were nearing completion and would be delivered by August and the remaining 2BHK houses which were in various stages of completion would be completed by year-end.

3. PBEL Asst Manager Held for Negligence

An assistant manager working for Goldenstar Facilities Pvt Limited, Ratna Babu, and an electrician from the same firm, Basvaraj, have been arrested in the case of the 6-year-old boy, Monish, who was electrocuted at PBEL City.

The Narsingi police have arrested four persons under section 304 (A) of the IPC for criminal negligence.

4. 8 Killed, 8 Injured After Mini Van Rams Into Bus

In an accident that occurred on Wednesday afternoon on the Nagarjunasagar Highway road, a Tata Magic collided with a TSRTC bus which was on its way to the city from Devarakonda. At least eight passengers died and eight suffered injuries.

The victims have been identified as C Ramulamma, 45, B Govardhan, 26, N Venkatesham, 50, A Srinath, 23, and the Tata Magic driver, K Mahesh, who died on the way to the hospital. The other three victims are yet to be identified by the cops.

5. Telangana High Court Asks TS to Pay Compensation to Silicosis Victims

The Telangana High Court on Wednesday directed the Telangana state government and the State Mineral Development Corporation authorities to pay compensation to the families of the workers who died of silicosis in Elkatta and Chowlapally of Ranga Reddy district and to file a compliance report within four weeks.

A division bench, comprising Chief Justice Thottathil B. Radhakrishnan and Justice A. Rajasheker Reddy, was dealing with a report which described the various problems faced by the family members of the victims who succumbed to the occupational hazard while working in the Quartz Mines, which had been run by the State Mineral Development Corporation before it was closed after the deaths of employees.
