QCrime: Terror Strike Averted in Delhi; UP Infant Stabbed to Death

1. Three Men Held for Planning Terror Strike in Delhi

Three men, believed to be inspired by the Islamic State, have been arrested by the Delhi Police from Assam’s Goalpara for planning terror attacks in the national capital.

Pramod Singh Kushwah, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) on Monday, 25 November, said the arrested have been identified as Ranjeet Ali, Muquadir and Zameel.

Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) have been recovered from the three men who were arrested after a joint operation by the Delhi Police with Assam Police.

Police said one kilogram of explosive substance and a dagger were also seized.

2. Infant, Parents Stabbed To Death, 2 Injured In Uttar Pradesh's Azamgarh

Three members of a family including an infant were stabbed to death and and two others injured in a village in Uttar Pradesh's Azamgarh district on Monday, 25 November, police said.

Villagers found the bodies of Irfan (35), his wife Sadiya (32) and a four-month-old infant with stab wounds in Ibrahimpur village under Mubarakpur police station area in the morning, Azamgarh Superintendent of Police (City) Pankaj Kumar Pandey said.

Police along with a forensic team and a dog squad rushed to the scene of the crime and began investigation, the SP said, adding that the two injured persons have been admitted to hospital.

3. Two Held for Sending Rs 15 Lakh Lottery Fraud to Pakistan Handlers, Says ATS

The Uttar Pradesh Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) on Monday, 25 November, arrested two men for allegedly sending money to their alleged Pakistani handlers after cheating people in a lottery fraud in Ghaziabad.

Prakash alias Jaiprakash Ruhela of Shamli and Dheerudeen Chaudhary of Muzaffarnagar were running a lottery withheld of their Pakistan-based handlers. They were living in Ghaziabad.

Police claimed Ruhela was in contact with 10 Pakistan-based handlers and was sending money on their direction. In the last one-and-a-half months, they have sent over Rs 15 lakh to their handles.

4. West Bengal: Arms Cache Seized, 26 Held

A huge cache of arms and ammunition was seized and 26 persons were arrested by Hooghly district’s Chandannagar Police Commissionerate on Sunday.

Police Commissioner Humayun Kabir said that they seized 21 arms, including 9mm and 7mm pistols, besides carbines, and 108 rounds of bullets.

As per police, among those arrested were wanted criminals Prosenjit Das and Nepu Das, against whom several cases, including of murder and extortion were lodged.

In another incident on Sunday, an arms dealer was arrested from Joynagar in South 24 Parganas district by Baruipur police. Several arms were seized from Suprabhat Haldar (24), a resident of Shreekrishnanagar in Joynagar.

5. Thrown Off Scooter, Man Crushed Under Vehicle Near ITO

A 25-year-old man was crushed under an unidentified vehicle after he lost control of his scooter and fell on the road near New Delhi’s ITO on Monday, 25 November. Police said the victim was accompanied by his colleague who sustained minor injuries and was later discharged from the hospital.

According to police, the victim, identified as Shahdara resident Vikas Pawar, lost control of the vehicle while taking a turn and was mowed down by a vehicle coming from behind. While the accused driver fled after the accident, police said Pawar died on the spot.

Pawar, who worked as a data entry operator in a private firm in Gandhi Nagar, was returning home when the incident took place.

6. 27-Year-Old Man from Pune Held for Raping Lawyer in Inebriated State

The Malabar Hill police arrested a 27-year-old Pune resident, Sanket Deshmukh, for allegedly raping a 25-year-old woman lawyer.

The accused and survivor met at a party organised by a common friend. According to the police, the woman got drunk at the party and the accused offered to drop her home. He then took her to a flat in Kanjurmarg, where he raped her, said police.

On realising what had happened, the woman approached the Malabar Hill police station and filed a complaint. The case was later transferred to the Kanjurmarg police station.

Ganjanan Taple, senior inspector, Kanjurmarg police station, said an investigation was underway.

7. 6 Arrested For Selling Fake Ayushman Bharat Cards For Rs 700 In Rajkot

Six people were arrested in Gujarat's Rajkot for allegedly issuing bogus health cards under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, the Centre's affordable healthcare scheme, police said on Monday.

The accused had organised a camp at a government school in Rajkot city to issue fake cards after charging Rs. 700 each, an official said.

"On a tip-off, chairperson of the health committee of the Rajkot Municipal Corporation, Jaimin Thakar, raided the place and called in the police," an official said.

8. Woman, 25, Stabbed To Death In Haryana's Sonipat

A 25-year-old woman was stabbed to death by two motorcycle-borne men while she was waiting for a bus in Sonipat district of Haryana on Monday, 25 November, police said.

The incident took place in Gohana on Gohana-Rohtak bypass road, Station House Officer (SHO) Mahipal said over phone.

The woman was rushed to a hospital where she was declared dead on arrival, he said.

The SHO ruled out the possibility that the assailants could be chain snatchers.

"There is no chain snatching angle involved in this. It is a case of murder," he said.

9. Village Head's Husband Allegedly Beaten To Death In Rajasthan

A 40-year-old businessman, who was the husband of a sarpanch, was beaten to death in the Alwar district of Rajasthan, the police said on Monday, 25 November.

The incident occurred in the Mandawar area on Sunday evening when Mahaveer Yadav was returning home from his factory, they added.

Yadav was brutally assaulted with sticks and iron rods and left at the spot badly injured, the officials said.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead. An autopsy was conducted today, they said
