1.16-year-old Strangled for Talking on Phone With Man, Say Police

A 25-year-old man was arrested for allegedly strangling a 16-year-old girl to death around 2 am on Sunday as he suspected her of “speaking to another man on the phone”.

According to police, the minor was dropped off at the accused’s house by two of their mutual friends on Sunday.

When they returned to pick her up at 2.30 am, they found that the door of the house was locked and the accused missing. When they looked through a window, they found the girl lying lifeless on the bed, police said.

“At 3 am, the friends informed us that the girl had been murdered, and when the police officers reached the spot, they found her body lying on a cot with a shawl around her neck,” said DCP (Northeast) Atul Kumar Thakur.

2. Thief Goes on Stabbing Spree in Bus; 3 Injured

Will a severed finger help solve a case of theft in a bus? The cops have been left tracking down a set of finger prints quite literally. The pickpocket lost his own finger during a stabbing spree in west Delhi on Sunday evening, leaving behind a trail of blood and three injured men.

Complainant Ranjit Kumar Yadav, 26, told police that he and his cousins, Dharmender Mukesh Yadav and Anil Yadav, boarded an RTV bus at Peera Garhi on their way to Janakpuri. According to Ranjit, two men in their 20s embarked the crowded bus near the CRPF camp in Vikaspuri.

“We had to get down from the bus and so stood near the gate when I realised that my wallet was missing from my pocket,” Ranjit said in his statement to the cops. “I immediately asked the driver to stop the bus and told everyone that no one should leave the vehicle till they were frisked.”

3. 7 Attack, Kidnap Biker for 4 Hrs; He Says Cops Acted Only After Tweet to PM

Seven persons allegedly attacked a motorcyclist, kidnapped him, kept him in a tempo with hands and legs tied up, beat him up and let him off after they took away his cash.

Lavesh Lund (27), a resident of Kalyan, alleged that after the four-hour trauma, when he approached Narpoli police, instead of helping him, they took five hours and only filed an NC against the accused.

The victim then tweeted about his trauma, tagging Thane city police and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, after which police ordered a probe.

4. Journalist Murder: Staffer, Printing Press Owner Arrested

A 24-year-old woman, Ankita Mishra, employed by the editor of a monthly magazine, Nityanand Pandey, was arrested two days after his body was found in a creek in Bhiwandi.

Her associate, Satish Mishra (33), at whose printing press Pandey’s magazine and weekly paper were printed, was also arrested on Monday by the crime branch unit of the Thane Gramin police.

Ankita has told the police that Pandey had been sexually abusing her for two years and hence, she, along with Satish, hatched a plan to kill Pandey.

5. Employee Killed, Guard Burnt Alive in Clashes at Vedanta plant

A Dalit employee of Vedanta Alumina’s 1.5 million tonne refinery in Odisha’s Kalahandi district was killed and a guard of the Odisha Industrial Security Force (OISF) was burnt to death when protesting locals demanding permanent jobs clashed with police outside the refinery on Monday. More than 30 persons were injured.

According to the police, agitators were staging a sit-out outside the refinery to demand the reinstatement of a fired villager.

“At around 10 am, the protesters tried to force their way inside when they were stopped by the OISF personnel. In the ensuing lathi-charge, the villager died,” said the local superintendent of police. “Locals stormed then the refinery and burnt down offices including the security office, killing an OISF guard.”

6. Gang Enters Badli Station With Knives, Attacks Youth

In a sensational incident, robbers carrying knives entered Badli railway station in north Delhi and stabbed a man on the platform during a robbery bid.

The victim, who had come from Palwal, was set to appear for the entrance exam of Indian Air Force. Two of the three accused were later arrested.

According to the police, the incident took place on Sunday morning around 2.50 am when the victim, Mohan Shyam, tried to stop three men from robbing his father Shankar Prasad.

7. After Killing 14-year-old, Delhi Teen Sent Ransom Text to Her Parents: Police

After a 17-year-old boy allegedly murdered a 14-year-old girl at an isolated building on Saturday, he sent a text message from her phone to her parents:

“Your daughter has been kidnapped, don’t try to call the police and there is no need to tell anyone. Wait for my next message. Make ready the cash, don’t try to call. There is no need to call anyone.”

The victim’s family claimed that around 7 pm on Saturday, the girl’s father received three such messages, but none mentioned the ransom amount.

“It seems the juvenile panicked after allegedly strangling the girl and sent these messages from her phone. He did this either to mislead police or to genuinely get hold of some ransom money,” said DCP (Shahdara) Meghna Yadav.

8. Police Bust Gang That Stole Cars Outside Gyms

Delhi Police on Monday said they had busted a gang of vehicle thieves who stole cars parked outside gymnasiums in Delhi and Haryana.

Two members of the gang were arrested after a brief chase and scuffle in which a policeman was injured. Three stolen vehicles – two cars and a motorcycle – were recovered from them.

Police said the duo – Pramod alias Guddu, 30, and Praveen alias Doctor, 29 – visited gyms as customers and stole keys of members’ cars kept at the reception desk. They used the keys to steal cars parked at the gyms.

Deputy commissioner of police (Dwarka) Anto Alphonse said Pramod heads the gang and is involved in around a dozen vehicle theft cases in Delhi and Haryana.

9. Man Who Duped Steel Traders of ₹4 Cr Arrested

A Vikhroli resident has been arrested for allegedly duping 23 steel traders of Rs 4 crore.

The accused, Rajesh Bajaj alias Sainath Venkatesh Ganji (24), and his accomplices purchased steel on credit with the intention of cheating and sold it at a throwaway price and then closed their office and went underground, said a police officer.

The police are looking for his two accomplices, Gaurav Shah and Anil Singh alias Azizul Hassan. Ganji is the second to arrested in this case after Kailash Shingadia who is in jail.
