QCrime: Man Stabbed in Mumbai, Two Sisters Murdered in Chandigarh

1. Man Stabbed to Death, Accused Held in Mumbai

A 23-year-old man was stabbed to death by a person over a minor issue at Behramnagar in suburban Bandra, police said on Thursday.

The incident took place on Wednesday evening at Haji Tabela Chawl and the accused has been arrested, an official said.

The victim was identified as Ayyub Afaq Ulla Hussain, he said.

"Hussain had a scuffle with 19-year-old Shibu Rafique Khan over some issue. Khan, who lost his cool during the brawl, took out a sharp weapon and stabbed Hussain in his stomach, following which the latter collapsed on the spot," he said.

Hussain was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared brought dead, he said.

Khan was arrested under IPC section 302 (murder) at Nirmal Nagar police station. He was produced before a court, where he was sent to police custody till Saturday, the official said.

2. Woman Stabbed By Drunk Husband in Delhi

A 40-year-old woman was stabbed by her drunk husband on early Thursday in northwest Delhi's Subhash Place area following an argument between them, police said.

The victim has been identified as Mohini, a resident of JJ Colony in Shakurpur area, they said.

The police receive information of the the incident on Thursday afternoon after which a team was rushed to the spot.

"During preliminary investigation, it was found that one Mohini was stabbed by her husband Sonu after an argument ensued between the couple. The victim was rushed to Bhagwan Mahavir Hospital for the treatment," said Northwest Delhi's Deputy Commissioner of Police Vijayanta Arya.

The accused was under the influence of alcohol when he attacked his wife, he added.

3. Two Sisters Found Murdered at PG Facility in Chandigarh

Two sisters hailing from Abohar in Punjab were found murdered with their throats slit at a paying guest (PG) facility here, police said on Thursday.

Rajwant Kaur and Manpreet Kaur, aged 22 and 23, respectively, were staying at a PG facility in Sector 22 for the past some time, police said, adding that they worked at a factory in neighbouring Zirakpur.

When they did not pick their phones on Thursday, members of their family contacted their acquaintance in Chandigarh to enquire about them.

The door of their room was found locked from outside.

Their acquaintance broke open the door and found them lying in a pool of blood.

Chandigarh SSP Nilambari Jagadale, along with other police officials, visited the spot.

Police said a sharp-edged weapons might have been used in the crime.

4. Minor Girl Allegedly Raped by Minor Boys in Hyderabad

Two cases under Nirbhaya Act and POCSO Act have been registered against three minor boys for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor girl at a village in Jogulamba-Gadwal district of Telangana, police said on Thursday.

The father of the 10-year-old girl complained on Wednesday that a minor boy called her on the pretext of playing and raped her, police said.

A case under Nirbhaya and POCSO Acts has been registered following the complaint, they said.

The father further complained that two other boys had also raped the girl about six months ago, police said.

A case under Nirbhaya Act and POCSO Act has been booked in this incident also.

The father did not lodge a police complaint earlier for fear of stigma, they said.

The girl was sent to a hospital and shifted to a state-run home for the welfare of girls, they said.

5. Two Held for Robbing Bike of Student Who Rammed into Their Car

Two men, who allegedly robbed the two-wheeler of an LLB student after he lost control of his bike and rammed into their car, have been arrested.

The accused have been identified as Bosco Jon D’mello (51) and his driver Manojkumar Sahu (29). D’mello works as a management consultant and stays in Bandra, said police.

According to police, the incident took place around 5 pm on Tuesday when Kalpesh Shinde was riding towards Tardeo from Wilson College.

“He allegedly lost control of his two-wheeler and dashed their Innova,” said an officer from Gamdevi police station. D’mello and his driver got out of the car and started demanding Rs 10,000 for the damage to their car. The student said he did not have any cash. “As the car had stopped in the middle of the road, a traffic constable arrived at the scene and asked them to leave. They allegedly fled with his bike’s key,” said an officer.

6. Nigerian National Held with Fake Passport in Mumbai

Mumbai Police Crime Branch has arrested a Nigerian national for entering the country allegedly on a fake passport.

The accused, Ndukwe Fidelis Ibe (35), was deported from India in 2015 for overstaying. Subsequently, a Look Out Notice (LOC) was issued against him.

On 2 August, Ibe arrived at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport here to take a flight to Turkey. His passport identified him as Kouame Aristide, an Ivory Coast resident. On examination, immigration officials found the passport fake and that his real name was Ibe.

It also came to light that he had an LOC against him after he was deported from India in 2015 for overstaying.

7. Maharashtra Woman, Lover Burn Husband with Hot Oil, Hit Him with Hammer

Manickpur police in Mumbai on Wednesday arrested a woman and her lover who allegedly tied up her husband when he was asleep, poured hot oil on his arms and chest, hit him on the head with a hammer, threw chilli powder in his eyes, gave him electric shocks and locked him in the toilet of their Vasai flat on Tuesday night. The man is in critical condition in JJ Hospital.

Bavishya Burhagohain, 38, originally from Assam, married Quincia, 28, in 2014. The couple has two children. Bavishya worked in a call centre in Powai, while Quincia is a homemaker. Soon, Quincia got into a relationship with Satvir Nair, 24, who worked as a mehendi artist in a mall in Vasai, said police. According to the police, the couple earlier stayed in Naigaon and later shifted to their rented second-floor flat in Pratapgadh Society in Vasai (East) so that Quincia wouldn’t be able to meet Nair. But Nair, too, came to stay in the same complex, leading to fights between the couple.

8. Man Kills Uncle, Aunt on Suspicions of Practicing Witchcraft

A 30-year-old man allegedly killed his elderly uncle and aunt on suspicion of practising witchcraft in Patamda Basti of East Singhbhum district, police said on Wednesday.

The accused, identified as Shivlal Tudu, has been arrested. Police said Tudu hacked Oping Tudu, 70, and Koki Tudu, 65, to death by sharp weapons.

“We arrested Shivlal Tudu on Tuesday and also seized an axe and a sickle used in killing the couple. The victims’ bodies were sent for autopsy. A case has been lodged against the accused on the basis of complaint filed by grandson of the victims,” said Rajesh Kumar, Patamda PS officer-in-charge (OC).

“Tudu’s wife was not keeping well for the past few months. His son too had died two years ago. He suspected the tragedies befell his family due to evil spell cast by his uncle and aunt, who, according to him, practise witchcraft... He was in an inebriated condition and killed both his uncle and aunt in a fit of rage,” added Kumar.

9. Four Arrested for Abducting, Killing Bengal Teen Girl

Police in Asansol on Wednesday arrested four people, including two friends of a 17-year-old girl, whose body was found on Tuesday, three days after she was kidnapped.

Two of the people arrested are minors and the other two are their relatives, police officers said. “Those arrested have confessed during interrogation that they abducted the girl for ransom. After her family members contacted the police, they panicked and killed the girl, leaving the body in a dustbin in Asansol,” said Sayak Das, additional deputy commissioner of police (central), Asansol Durgapur Police. “Two of those arrested were friends of the victim. Charges of kidnapping and murder have been slapped against all four.”

A second officer who asked not to be identified said the victim’s two friends were not her schoolmates.
