1. Doctor Kills Driver, Tries to Dissolve His Body in Acid

A government doctor in Madhya Pradesh allegedly killed his driver, cut the body into small pieces and tried to dissolve them in an acid-filled drum. Police said, the doctor was in a relationship with the victim’s wife and wanted him out of the way. The 58-year-old doctor was apprehended after his neighbours became suspicious of his behaviour. The incident took place in Hoshangabad.

“The accused, Dr Sunil Mantri, who lives in Anand Nagar, has confessed to killing Birendra alias Biru Pachauri (30),” Hoshangabad city superintendent of police Arvind Saxena said.

The doctor was apprehended after his neighbours became suspicious of his behaviour. The incident took place in Hoshangabad. Hoshangabad city superintendent of police Arvind Saxena said, “The accused Dr Sunil Mantri (58), who lives in Anand Nagar, an upscale locality in Hoshangabad, has confessed to killing his servant, Birendra alias Biru Pachauri (30).”

2. MP Books 3 Under National Security Act for Killing Cow

The Madhya Pradesh police invoked the National Security Act (NSA) against three persons accused of cow slaughter in the state’s Khandwa district on Tuesday.

The three accused were identified by the police only by their first names – Nadeem, Shakeel and Azam. They were booked under the NSA “to maintain peace in the communally sensitive area”, said Siddharth Bahuguna, superintendent of police, Khandwa. Bahuguna said two of the accused were “habitual offenders” and had earlier been arrested under sections of Prohibition of Cow Slaughter Act.

3. Thane: 61-Year-Old Held for Stalking, Molestation

A 61-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly molesting and stalking a woman.

The police said the accused, a resident of Thane, had been stalking the 58-year-old woman, who used to work as domestic help, for several months. “The woman used to come to the area to work as domestic help. The man used to follow her and taunt her, which made her quit her job at several houses,” said a police officer.

On Monday, when the victim was walking back home, the man allegedly touched her inappropriately. “The victim hit him with a tiffin-box but he fled,” the officer said.

4. Elderly Man Stabbed to Death; Mob Torches Houses

Three houses were set on fire by a mob after a 65-year-old man was stabbed to death in Surmunda village in Simdega district on Tuesday, police sources said.

Nandkishore Sahu was strolling on the road when a person stabbed him in the stomach with a knife and also hit him with a stone, killing him instantly.

Old enmity was stated to be the reason behind the murder, the sources said.

A large number of local people as well as family members of the victim assembled soon after Sahu was killed.

5. Police Seize Liquor Worth ₹16.39 Lakh in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad police, in the wee hours of Monday, caught a truck loaded with Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) worth Rs 16.39 lakh from Sanathal Crossroads near Sarkhej.

Officials of Prevention of Crime Branch (PCB) said they had made additional police deployment at Sanathal Crossroads following an input that trucks with IMFL will be passing from there. When they saw the truck matching the registration number given by an informer, they stopped it and enquired with its driver and cleaner.

6. Woman Left With Torn Earlobe as Snatchers Strike in East Delhi

A short delay in handing over her gold earring to robbers who held her hostage left a 34-year-old woman with a torn earlobe in east Delhi’s Madhu Vihar in the early hours of Monday, police said.

The victim, Poonam who launders clothes, said the unidentified men were in a hurry because they had struck near the Mandawali metro station, less than 300 metres from two police stations – Madhu Vihar and Mandawali – that operated from a single complex.

The crime is reminiscent of three such snatchings that left women with torn earlobes in a span of a week in west Delhi’s Uttam Nagar around the same time, last year. The suspect in that case was caught while he was allegedly preparing to strike a fourth time.

7. 55-Yr-Old Man Killed as Group Attacks Family Over Kite-Flying Row

A 55-year-old man died after a group of 10 people armed with iron rods and sharp weapons attacked him and his family at their home in Muzaffarnagar’s Chatela village over a kite-flying row on Monday evening. Six family members of the deceased – identified as Rajkumar Singh – were also injured in the incident.

An FIR was registered and police said they have made arrests, but refused to provide details. Soon after the incident, personnel from nearby police stations were deployed in the village to prevent the situation from escalating further. Police said that on Monday evening, Rajkumar’s nephew Aditya (17) and a youth from his locality Shaqir (20) had an argument over kite-flying. They were pacified when others intervened, but around an hour later, around 10 persons from Shaqir’s family allegedly entered Aditya’s house and beat up his family members.

8. Restaurant Chain Owner Held Captive, Thrown Off Car

The owner of a popular restaurant chain was held captive at gunpoint in his Pajero SUV at Rajouri Garden in west Delhi, driven around and then thrown off the moving vehicle near Naraina on Monday night. The victim, Ganesh Agarwal, took the help of an employee to reach a police station and lodge a complaint.

The incident occurred near Rajouri Garden metro station where Agarwal was sitting in his car and talking on the phone. He was about to reach his house when he stopped to answer the call. Suddenly, a man forced open the door and got inside. Before Agarwal could react, two more men entered and sat in the middle row.

They threatened him with pistols and then pulled him behind. He was shoved on the floor in the middle row and threatened not to make any noise.

One of the men took control of the wheels and started driving towards Dhaula Kuan via Ring Road. The two men seated near Agarwal snatched his wallet and took approximately Rs 5,000 cash. One of them took his mobile phone and pulled out the SIM card. They then threw him out near Naraina and drove towards Dhaula Kuan.

9. Two on Scooty Rob Couple at Gunpoint

Two men on a scooty robbed a couple of their belongings at gunpoint on east Delhi’s Narwana Road on Sunday night.

The couple, Ram Sagar and Poonam, were returning from Noida on their motorcycle after attending a wedding. The men snatched one of Poonam’s earrings as well, injuring her in the process.

DCP (east) Jasmeet Singh said, a case under sections of robbery has been registered. According to the couple, they saw the two men following them on a scooty around midnight. The men then asked them to slow down, pretending to ask for directions. “Both the men were wearing helmets and asked me the way to Anand Vihar. When I slowed down the bike, the pillion rider took out the keys of my bike, forcing me to stop the vehicle,” Sagar, who runs a laundry shop near his house, said.
