QCrime: Delhi Woman Kills Parents For Flat; Highway Robbers Held

1. Delhi Woman Murders Parents to Grab Rs 50 Lakh-Flat

A 26-year-old woman, aided by her boyfriend, allegedly killed her parents one after the other, stuffed their bodies in suitcases and dumped them in drains, all in a bid to grab their flat worth Rs 50 lakh in west Delhi’s Paschim Vihar.

The double murder came to light when the decomposed bodies were found. The first one was discovered on Friday, 8 March, when a suitcase was found floating in a drain near Nangloi Syed village. Inside it was the body of a woman, later identified as Jageer Kaur, 43.

It emerged that Jageer’s husband, Gurmeet, was also missing. His body too was found in a suitcase in another drain in Nangloi Syed.

2. Man, 50, Arrested for Killing Son Over Family Dispute

A 50-year-old man murdered his son over a family dispute on Monday, 11 March.

Police said Sakthivel woke up in the wee hours and stabbed Satish, 21, who was sleeping, at his house in Ramapuram near Porur.

Hearing Satish screaming, his mother Loganayaki and sister Sangeetha came to his rescue but were injured in the scuffle, said police.

After Loganayaki raised an alarm, neighbours rushed Satish to a hospital where doctors declared him ‘brought dead’.

3. Fake Packers Listed Online Steal SUV, Rs 34,000 Fee From Officer’s Wife

A Coast Guard officer’s wife from Powai was conned by a movers & packers service provider whose phone number she got from the internet. The homemaker, who is 34, wanted the service to send an SUV to her husband’s friend in Mizoram on 18 February.

She allegedly contacted Agarwal All India Movers & Packers after getting their contact details on Google.

For the SUV’s delivery, they charged Rs 33,806, which was transferred online to their bank account. After she learnt that the SUV hadn’t reached its destination even by March 10, she lodged an FIR with Powai police.

4. On Women’s Day, Snatchers Drag 53-Year-Old on Delhi Road

On International Women’s Day, when Delhi was busy with celebrations, a woman was being literally dragged on the road for nearly 30 metres by two men on a motorcycle, even as she desperately tried to fend them off from stealing her handbag.

The incident once again highlights how safety of women on the capital’s streets remains a lip service.

The two men on the motorcycle snatched the bag of 53-year-old Shobha Kanwar while she was standing outside a residential colony in west Delhi’s Janakpuri.

A video of the woman being dragged by her saree surfaced on social media on Monday, 11 March. A few onlookers could be seen in the video but none came to her help.

5. Gang Dupes Many With Job Offers in Auto Major

A gang that used to impersonate representatives of a leading corporate and dupe youths by offering them jobs has been busted. The Mumbai Police’s cyber unit, along with officials of Rajouri police station in New Delhi, raided a call centre in the national capital recently and arrested Vipin Rajpalsingh Yadav and Mohit Rakumar Yadav.

The police said that hunt is on for other members of the gang. They seized 22 mobile phones, SIM cards, bank passbooks, two computers, routers, printers and digital notebooks containing list of victims from the accused’s Rajouri Garden call centre.

An official said that the gang would email youngsters seeking jobs on social media and lure them with supervisors’ posts in the auto major.

6. Maharashtra: Five Highway Robbers Held For Murder of Truck Driver

The Thane rural police on Monday, 11 March, arrested five persons in connection with a murder and theft on Bhiwandi bypass. The accused were allegedly part of a highway gang and had murdered a truck driver and stolen his consignment on 26 February, police said.

According to the police, the accused – all residents of Talasari, Govandi and Thane – were allegedly active on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway.

“The men robbed trucks coming from Gujarat and generally dumped its driver on the roadside. On 26 February, they had targeted a truck carrying cement and killed its driver when he tried to retaliate,” a senior police officer said.

7. Two Held for Duping People on Pretext of Providing Jobs in Foreign Countries

Two people were arrested in Ghaziabad for allegedly duping people on the pretext of providing them jobs in foreign countries, police said on 11 March.

Manoj Kumar Nayak, a resident of Delhi, and Jasbir Singh, a resident of Jalandhar, were arrested at 11:30 pm on Sunday night, said ASP Aparna Gautam.

During interrogation, the two confessed to their crime, the officer said, adding that a case was registered against them.

Police have seized 27 passports, some PAN cards, a cheque book and a luxury car.

8. 19-Year-Old Girl Dragged Out of Office, Molested in MP Nagar

In the last 24 hours, as many as five molestation cases were lodged at police stations in the city.

An accountancy professional was dragged out of her office and molested on Monday morning, 11 March, said MP Nagar police. The accused, identified as Sunil Godhke, has been stalking her for more than a year now. He was arrested.

Sunil had threatened that he would commit suicide if the survivor turned down his marriage proposal.

9. Body Kept in Suitcase Bought For Valuables

When 54-year-old Gurmeet Singh returned to Delhi from Dubai early last year after working there in the furniture business for years, he brought with him a bluish-green suitcase – to be used exclusively to keep the valuables the family owned.

On Saturday, 9 March, when a police team embarked upon a search operation to find Gurmeet, who had been missing for over two weeks by then, they found his body inside a drain and stuffed in the same suitcase.

“My father kept some cash, a lot of jewellery and our property documents in that suitcase. He really valued it,” said Gurmeet’s son, Pradeep Singh, who works as a chef in Kuwait.
