QCrime: Couple Shot Dead in Ghaziabad; Body Found in Metro Bhawan

1. Couple Shot Dead in Ghaziabad

Annu (26) and Preeti (36) were shot dead near a temple in Ghaziabad on Monday, 26 March morning. The two who had their ring ceremony a few weeks ago, were due to get married in November.

The two were shot by an unknown person at around 7 am, after they stepped out of a temple in Ghaziabad's Hindon, police said.

The GT Road Kotwali police recovered the bodies in Sai Upvan near Hindon river. An investigation is on to probe multiple angles, including whether the couple committed suicide or somebody else killed them, a police officer said.

Police could not recover any weapon from the spot which creates suspicion that a third person might have shot them, the officer said.

2. DMRC Employee’s Body Found in Metro Bhawan Basement

The body of a 33-year-old DMRC employee was found in the basement of the Metro Bhawan, police said on Monday.

The deceased identified as Mahesh Prajapati, hailed from Varanasi and was residing in Govindpuri area of the national capital.

A DMRC spokesperson said Prajapati worked as a maintenance fitter since 2017 and was found dead in the basement near the stairs which connect all floors of the DMRC corporate office at Metro Bhawan on Monday morning.

The matter was immediately reported to the police and body was taken by them for postmortem, the DMRC official said, adding the crime team of the police has visited the spot and matter is being further investigated.

"It appears that the incident may have taken place on the evening of Friday when the office was closing for the weekend. The office reopened today (Monday) morning and the body was noticed.

3. Man Wanted for Robberies Held After Gunfight

A man wanted in over two dozen robbery cases was arrested following a gunfight with police on Monday night, officials said.

While Tazim Hasan was arrested, his two associates managed to flee during the encounter in Transport Nagar, under Phase III police station area, the police said.

"Hasan carried a reward of Rs 25,000 on his head. He was wanted since October 2018. He was injured in an encounter with the police tonight," Senior Superintendent of Police Vaibha Krishna said.

Hasan, along with his associates, was wanted in 25 cases of robbery and loot in Delhi-National Capital Region, the SSP added.

A firearm, along with ammunition, was seized from him, the police said.

4. Gunmen Loot Rs 14.29 Lakh in Bhagalpur

Four gunmen looted Rs 14.29 lakh from two employees of an LPG agency in Bihar's Bhagalpur district on Monday, police said.

The incident occurred at a place under Vishwavidyalaya police station limit when the two employees of the agency were going on a two-wheeler to deposit the cash in a nationalised bank.

Four men in two motorbikes intercepted them, snatched the bag containing the money at gun point and fled, police said.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajvansh Singh said an FIR has been lodged in this regard and efforts are on to arrest the culprits.

5. Armed Robbers Looted Petrol Pump in J&K’s Kathua

Two persons were injured after they were shot at by robbers who looted cash from a filling station on Jammu-Pathankot highway in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said Monday.

Three bike-borne masked robbers reached a petrol pump at Seswan in Chadwal area of Rajbagh on Saturday night and shot at and injured two workers before fleeing with "unspecified amount" of cash, a police official said.

He said the injured – Hans Raj of Mahanpur and Parkash Singh of Gujjroo – were rushed to hospital.

A case was registered in connection with the robbery and efforts are on to nab the accused, the official said.

6. Two Booked for Assaulting Rickshaw Driver

Two persons have been booked for allegedly kidnapping and assaulting a minor autorickshaw driver.

The 17-year old victim, apparently owed Rs 4,000 to the accused Sagar, who owns the autorickshaw. "On Sunday, Sagar and his friend Ravi Gupta assaulted the victim. Both have been booked for kidnapping, assault, and criminal intimidation. Further probe is on," the police said.

7. Man Held in Chennai Airport With Endangered Reptiles

A man was held by custom officials at the Chennai international airport on Monday with endangered reptiles.

The passenger, a 22-year-old Chennai student named Mohammad Abdul Majeed, had arrived from Bangkok.

The seized reptiles included a horned horned pit viper, a poisonous African snake, three Rock Iguana, 22 Egyptian Tortoise, four Blue Tongued Skink and three Green Tree frogs.

8. One Arrested After Car Mowed Down 48-Year-Old

A 48-year old man, KC George, was arrested in Delhi for allegedly mowing down a person in Delhi's CR Park last week.

The car allegedly had hit the victim Sher Bahadur after coming from the wrong side George has been charged under section 304-(a) (causing death due to negligence) and 279 (rash riding or driving on a public way) of the IPC, based on a case registered on eyewitness' statement.

Bahadur, who worked as a cook in CR Park, had lost his wife to cancer. He is survived by his two sons aged 12 and 17.

9. Two Minors Among Four Held for Robberies in Delhi

Two men were arrested and as many juveniles apprehended in different incidents for allegedly robbing people, police said on Monday.

The two men were identified as Momin and Moinuddin, they said.

The four were nabbed for allegedly robbing two men at different places in Jahangir Puri, the police said.

One mobile phone was recovered from Momin and the two juveniles, they said.

In the second incident, Moinuddin was arrested, and a bag and a wallet were recovered from him, they said.
